Make Bread Your Tables Centerpiece
Because we're over flowers for now.
If you’ve ever hosted a dinner, you’ll know that bread often feels like the supporting actor—it’s there, it’s appreciated, but it rarely gets the spotlight. More often than not, it’s the last thing we put on the table but one of the first things we consume.
For me, there’s something about bread that feels humble, and inviting. It’s communal by nature. You tear into it, you share it, and somehow, the table feels warmer when you place it on there. So I wanted to create a table where it was the centerpiece and give 3 other ways you decorate your table with it.

Sprouting from the Table
This is how I decorated our most recent Annual Host dinner. Take tall loaves—baguettes, seeded loaves, whatever you love—and cut them at different lengths. Then place them straight up and down throughout the table as if they are sprouting from it.

2. The Circle or Leaf Loaf
Breaking bread together is one of the oldest traditions of connection. We wanted to keep this table setting clean (we were doing a potato bar for dinner) soo having the bread in a circle or leaf shape added an element of art and connectedness to the table. I am not a fan of putting the butter candles in the loaves, I enjoy letting the art piece speak for itself. Here are three more examples of inspiration found on Pinterest:

on to the next….
3. As a Display Stage
I’ve seen this a few times recently but haven’t executed it just yet and the jury is still out if I like or not….but i’ve been seeing a lot of different ‘items’ used to hold up a clear glass plate or slab on the table. The most frequenty example is cheese but you can cut your bread to hold the four corners of the glass and put your spread on top.

4. A Personal Loaf
Another one I haven’t done just yet but I adore is giving each guest a personal loaf with some type of decoration around it. We’ve soooo over the era of the bow (I know I know, I put a picture with bows & bread above but those were the best references i saw) so think outside the box.
Maybe buy a disposable bread sleeve and paint on it
Maybe wrap it with paper and do a handwritten note on it.
Maybe wrap it in a white knit and use it as a name place card (without the green leaf that the image reference has above - not loving that)

4. Hanging from Above
Normally I only like giving idea’s of things you women can do in your home so this ones a little bit of a stretch & a little more work - but if you really want to go all out you can hang the bread from the ceiling. It will definitely wow your guests and they can rip it piece by piece when eating.
Any more ideas?
xx Sam
